Benedict XVI sings for Alma Mater CD

For the first time, the Pope's voice in Latin, Italian, Portuguese, French and German was recorded on a music CD, which was presented on November 10th in Rome and will be on sale starting November 29th.The CD, named Alma Mater, is a collection of 8 original soundtracks of modern sacred music, with prayers, litanies and Marian hymns. Part of the albums proceeds will go to the musical education of poor children around the world.Among others, Alma Mater records Benedict XVI reading and singing texts and prayers in St. Peters Basilica, accompanied by the Choir of the Roman Philharmonic Academy.

  1. I attended the launch ceremony of the album in Rome on the 10th November. It was awe inspiring and an outstanding piece of music transcending musical, religious and cultural boundaries.
